Hy-Talk

The Hy-Talk project joins forces from the Department of Applied Sciences of Education and the subjects of English, German, Romance Languages and Nordic Languages.

The project explores spoken language testing. In the project, we have recorded Finnish comprehensive school (7th form) and upper secondary school (1st form) pupils doing a spoken language test. The language skills of the test pairs were then assessed based on a criterion-referenced evaluation grid applied from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The spoken language data has been transcribed for linguistic analysis, and students of English Philology are free to use the data for instance in their theses. In addition, the language skills assessments have been compiled for quantitative analysis.

For more information on the project at English Philology, please contact Niina Hynninen. The project leader is Raili Hildén from the Department of Applied Sciences of Education.
