Degree student admission

Each year some 5-10 international degree students begin their English Philology studies. The Faculty of Arts handles all admissions, but applicants must take an entrance exam arranged by the subject. The entrance exam is the same for both international and Finnish applicants. International applicants have their own entrance quota however (all applicants’ whose native language is not Finnish or Swedish must apply in this quota). Applicants with an IB can choose whether they apply as an international or Finnish student. If you already have a Bachelor’s Degree in English, you can apply for direct admission into the Master’s program. Applicants are chosen based on their applications.

Further information on the application process can be found on the Faculty of Arts web pages (see links below). All questions concerning admissions should be directed to the University of Helsinki Admissions Service.
